Re: Non-combat Edges/roles in SW

Every character should be a viable option (if it makes sense in the setting of course). What you really want to do is tailor your game to play at the characters' strengths (and occasionally exploit their weaknesses too). For example: If there is a chemist in the group, give him an oportunity to use...

Re: Another Centaur > need feedback

Something like Sweep comes to mind, where he spins around in place using his bulk to attack everyone near him. I was thinking something something along the lines of an extra attack. Lord Lance made some great suggestions on ironing such an Edge out. The extra (MAP-less) attack would have its own Fi...

Re: Another Centaur > need feedback

edit: Alternatively, the Gang-Up bonus could probably stay at +1 per additional opponent (for simplicity and consistency) but max out at +6, instead of +4. So Gang Up scales the same as with any other character, but caps out at 7 opponents instead of 5. I think I like that one better. While this ma...

Which ones?
I'm having a little trouble envisioning which somatic-based abilities would carry over to the "button pressing and lever pulling" of operating a mech.

Re: [SPC2] Building a Mech pilot

Looks alright. I might also look into using the Switchable mod to swap out his "human" power set with his "mech" power set, since he should lose all those Trait boosts once he steps into the mech. The guy doesn't need to have "super powers" per se ... simply buy a ton o...

My mistake. I see that now. I was originally reading Godborn D-bee as a custom racial ability.

Re: [Savage Rifts] The Great D-Bee Race Conversion Thread

Something one of my players and I worked up for his most recent character. Godborn D-Bee (+2): Strength +2 steps (+4) Vigor +1 step (+2) Additional Action: faster than mortal men (+3) Size +2: body on divine scale (+2) Charisma +1: godly aura (+1) Distinctive D-Bee: 10' tall glowing demigod (-2) No...

Re: question about play testing

So i have been working my but off trying to get this campaign setting completed and iv been running a few small groups through missions and testing all the beasties i've made, and rules I've created. But now that im done the initial design phase im not sure how to broaden the test playing so i can ...

Those are all very good points. Implementing them will led to a better, more rounded Edge.
Thank you for the feedback. :D

Re: Obscure vs. Invisbility

But for obscure to work both contextually and by RAW the smoke columns would need to be centered on everyone within a LBT and move with them as well until they reach the perimeter of the spell, where they can finally exit the column. That's a bit harder to justify, in my opinion, than just re-Trappi...

Re: Obscure vs. Invisbility

To address your question, though, obscure would impose its penalty on everyone in the area (including you), while invisibility would force the penalty on everybody except you. The latter is what you want. Fortunately, in my assessment that is what you pretty much described. So you're good. 8)

Re: Obscure vs. Invisbility

Respectively I am going to disagree with using obscure . The "column of smoke" trapping functions nothing like a blanket LBT effect. Invisibility seems to fit better; the opponent needs to make a Notice roll to determine which column of smoke hides the character (perhaps by distinguishing ...

Some years back I was in a LowLife game. My creamfillian hocus poker had a noxious fart power (burst) that made flesh blister and crack, and a "snot rocket" (bolt).

Re: Another Centaur > need feedback

With that said, I would also write up a few centaur-specific Edges for the setting. One mitigating the Gang Up bonus (likely at Seasoned) and something along the lines of: Heel Kick Req: Novice, Agility d8, Fighting d8 The centaur can make one attack as a free action to any opponent adjacent to its ...

Re: Another Centaur > need feedback

A comment on the "eyes facing forward" thing. I have not seen any rules in Savage Worlds regarding facing or fields of view. Could someone point me to them? If they do not exist, that rationale, while logical, is not really valid according to the rules. Yeah, I don't think there are any r...

Re: New AB

I would suggest Skill-based Trappings. You can choose as many different Trappings as you're willing to buy, and it won't break the game since you couldn't easily adjust to a curveball situation.

The Flexible Power or Freeform Caster edges also mesh well with an "off the cuff" sorcerer type.

Re: [SPC2] The "Killer Speedster" in actual play

The concept is Speedster Professional Superhero (who is a bit of a jerk in day to day outside heroing). Wally West Flash was a full time superhero. So are the Fantastic Four. So are the X-Men. Only some heroes have a secret identity and a day-job. Not all of them do. Fine, but I meant an actual bac...

Re: [SPC2] The "Killer Speedster" in actual play

When it comes to skills there are multiple superhero genres. You apparently like characters to be average schmoes without their powers and that's fine. But in the Silver Age tradition I associate with the Four Color power level most heroes are exceptionally skilled individuals even without their po...

Re: [SPC2] The "Killer Speedster" in actual play

I meant "criticisms" in the "constructive" sense. I wasn't implying anyone was simply just crapping on the build. I didn't take time to really crunch the build earlier. On closer inspection, it looks like he should already have 6 PP in super Agility , leaving him just 4 points le...
