Re: How can I help my players be more decisive?

Rule One: Communicate. Rule One is ALWAYS communicate. So, ask your players if THEY felt the session dragged. You might be surprised--they may have enjoyed debating the pros and cons of the best means to approach the situation, figuring out which skillset they were best equipped to tackle, and so on...

Re: Dimension Hopping to/from Low Magic Wolrds

I'd strongly recommend re-reading the Draining PPE/ISP setting rule. It says a lot about the setting, a lot about magic and morality, and fills less than half a page - making it surprisingly succinct. Okies, so I have done so. Actually, it says that if you are a creature that can drain PPE/ISP, and...

Do all Crew need the skill associated with operating the vehicle, or can you have someone unskilled in the job?

Re: [SR] Master of Magic? Maybe pretty good at magic.

I had considered toning down the Ley line walkers ability to siphon magic off a ley line, but I really need to play test a bit more before I even begin to think about finalizing some of the changes Honestly, that's the key thing about them--you'd have to significantly increase something else to bal...

Re: Dimension Hopping to/from Low Magic Wolrds

Makes sense. A caveat of the setting though, is that when a thing dies, the PPE it has is doubled and released into the nether. So, even good mages would be perfectly within their "alignment" to sacrifice a goat for the greater good of the community, it gets much murkier as the energy nee...

Re: [SR] Help me with the shard pistol

How does the lower trait ability of the shard pistol work? Do you have to pay the 2 pp cost to activate the lower trait ability in addition to the 3 pp ammo cost? If so, do you pay that cost per "bullet" you fire? Can you use it to do damage without paying for the power as well? Does the ...

Re: Non-combat Edges/roles in SW

I'll be running a sci-fi game set in the Fragged Empire setting. I want to try to make viable character options that aren't combat oriented or require you to have an Arcane Background to be useful, like a mundane scientist (i.e. not a mad scientist) or what have you. Since I don't have a lot of exp...

Re: Dimension Hopping to/from Low Magic Wolrds

Fair enough (and I agree, this isn't a 'right vs. wrong' discussion, it's a 'rocky road vs. mint chocolate chip' discussion). My thing is separating between, "Your character knows of a thing" vs. "Your character knows how to do a thing". I would be willing to let the LLW who has ...

Re: Dimension Hopping to/from Low Magic Wolrds

From what I'm reading, it sounds like the way to go would be: Baseline Magic : In Baseline Magic worlds, there is enough ambient PPE to draw upon, however, there are no natural Ley Lines or Nexuses to be able to use special abilities with; if they exist at all, it's because something has created it...

Re: Toughness of robot armor, and the limits of Savage Worlds

Our GB went up against a suit of Robot Armor while the rest of the group did the mook thing. It was impressive, in part because they wound up at VERY close range (they both had to take steps to not include themselves in their blast radii). While I admittedly rolled like crap, the GB still had a fair...

Re: Toughness of robot armor, and the limits of Savage Worlds

There's been some discussion of how even the toughest mechs tend to pop really fast in Savage Rifts. Of course a lot of that is just the Fast/Furious/Fun way of things, and the power of heavy railguns is a factor too, but I also feel like Savage Worlds breaks down a little with big damage values. T...

Re: Here's a list of power/robot armor height/weight

Lol, so the size questions here are really about the bonus to hit it? Having a hard time rolling a "4" likely with a +2 bonus? It's size 8 already, I guess the APC, Spider Skull Walker, Death's Head Transport, and Titan Combat Robot are the only other vehicles that wouldn't get a +2 bonus...

Re: [SR] Damaging part of a vehicle? (i.e.: super trooper and an APC)

No, it means that it was a bit too late for me to communicate clearly. Some large parts are easier to smash because they stick outside of the armor plating. But, generally larger parts should be harder to destroy. Which is why I've edited my post to include a key missing word. Difference. Sp...

Re: [SR] Damaging part of a vehicle? (i.e.: super trooper and an APC)

Honestly, both are equally easy. I've used both in play; because Acing damage dice are more fun, my players seem to like the Critical Hits version more, but the Breaking Objects version is easier to run ("if damage is equal or greater then it broke") but harder to explain ("roll dama...

Re: [Savage Rifts] Loopholes, Min-Maxing and other concepts for Fun and Profit

Next up, we've got the Fugly Bunch. All of these share a single mechanical drawback--they kick you in the Charisma. Since even a minor flat penalty is brutal in SW, once you hit -2, you may as well just keep going. As such, they may be things you want to avoid in social campaigns, or if you're want...

Re: [Savage Rifts] Loopholes, Min-Maxing and other concepts for Fun and Profit

Okay, in the vein of this thread, I'm going to post my Squib's Guide to Hindrances. By no means should this be taken as a serious guide to character building; rather, it's specifically geared towards min/maxing and other forms of loophole exploitation. (If anything, you find yourself consistently do...

Ah I didn't think about the master of magic. You got a point there. Will have to look over the numbers for balance reasons. Good point.
