Re: [SPC2] The Adventures of Baron Munchausen

Oh yeah, I only took one switchable modifier into account, my bad. Also, thought about an alternative for Adolphus attack ranged power : why not making it a Limitation -2 (only usable with blackpowder weapons) instead of a device ? Sure, this takes off the trademark weapon edge, but it's easier to r...

Re: [SPC2] The Adventures of Baron Munchausen

Characters are good, except for Berthold. Since malus to attacks from speed and deflection doesn't stack, I feel it is a loss of power points. The only difference is that deflection grants protection from ranged even if caught anaware, but that's still a huge cost in PP, IMHO. I'd change it for some...

Re: [SPC2] The "Killer Speedster" in actual play

What I did tried in play was a Super Drone NPC in a Necessary Evil Campaign, using a Seasoned Four-Colour preset and adding in Hyper-Drone black armor plating (+6 armor), vibro-claws (Attack Melee, +1d6, AP 2, HW, Lethal) and arm-blaster (attack ranged, 3d6, AP 4) to represent the drone parts... It ...

Re: [SPC2] Possession power confusion

The Spirit roll is if the controlled body is Shaken or Wounded. It's automatic if "the possessor's body" is Wounded (can't be Shaken since it's already completely helpless which is worse than Shaken). But is shaken still useful for the sake of the "two shaken result in a wound" ?

[Home Brew] Savage Hell - Need Feedback

I am currently working on creating a setting. I started a Starcraft setting but put it aside, since it is quite easy to build it with the Sci-Fi Companions. But the idea of Savage Hell came to me during the campaign we play with friends... it's a Necessary Evil campaign, where my players stays as vi...

Re: Dropping Objects and Momentum

For dropped object, I'd use falling damage + improvised weapon damage.
As for the rolling boulder, I'd use vehicle collision damage.

[Conversion] Savage Starcraft - WIP

Hello all. Suffering from the Hindrance "too much imagination and not enough patience to wait for one work tobe finished to start another", I'm starting to build a conversion of the Starcraft universe into Savage Worlds... slowly. This topic is open to debate and is actually a call for hel...

Re: [SPC2] Character Advice

Shrinking could definitely be one of them, but as written there isn't a permanent modifier for Shrinking like there is for Growth. You'll have to invent one. Almost any "change state" powers (growth, intangibility, invisibility) have the permanent modifier for -2. A "Limitation -2 : ...

Re: [SPC] "Worst" and most "Broken"

The trapping for this specific case is "plants growing inside of matter, destroying and consuming it". It is derived from the Matter Control power (even if it is another power altogether) and, as trapped, create matter for the character to control. This particular player is quite clever, a...

Re: [SPC] "Worst" and most "Broken"

With the use of some necromancy, I cast some resurrection on this thread. One of my PC made me do so... 'cause he uses a sidekick (5pts) with Strong Decay, Duplication and the "team player" edge. 3 decay attack with an average d12+6 fighting (+4 from gang up, +2 from touch attack) Even the...

Re: [SF] Race creation - cyber-plagued

For the balance part : Half-Machine : Didn't think about the +2 part of every race creation in that. Will take care of it. The extra hindrance from cyborg is included within Plagued. Plagued : As said, Plagued is -2, but have two major hindrances : the Terminally Ill and the major Paria (chased by a...

[SF] Race creation - cyber-plagued

Hello. I'm building a race list for a Sci-Fi campaign (since my current NE will reach a conclusion soon). The first step is the creation of the universe and its population. The base synthetics are good, I'll keep 'em, but I have a Cyborg race in mind and I'm not sure about its racial traits cost. Th...

Re: Custom Setting Rules

So, let's recap : Cyber-Reject : Just like any transplanted organs, cyberware are seen as foreign by tho body. As such, anyone sporting cyberware must take some sort of medication to prevent his body from rejecting the transplants at least once a day. If he cannot, the character must roll the lowest...

Re: Custom Setting Rules

I'm not seeing a cohesive theme here. Basically the character needs to take medicine to keep his body from rejecting the implants. If he doesn't, he takes Fatigue damage... but the implants continue to function. :? In real life, this type of thing occurs with live organ transplants... and rejection...

Re: Custom Setting Rules

More suited for a Sci-Fi game : Cyber-Reject : Just like in real life, the organism sees transplants as foreign and rejects them. Someone with cyberwares must take some sort of medication to keep them. Treat this as a the Major Hindrance Habit. The Cyber-Tolerent and Cyborg Edges don't counter this,...

Re: The Story or having fun?

Ah, but I agree ValhallahGH : ignoring a dice result should be very rare. I just accept the fact that it will happen from time to time. I generally don't use this trick if there's another solution... (My main defense against one shots is a high toughness). And I never ignored dice result to actually...

Re: The Story or having fun?

If I learned a GM had tweaked an early die-roll and it resulted in some other bad thing happening, I would walk from the table--mid-game, if that's when I found out. And yes, I put a premium on player agency. The GM (and I try to GM as much as I can) has the obligation to roll with the punches as b...

Re: The Story or having fun?

To be honest, I don't do that very often. I do not control every step, I just take advantage of the screen when I feel it makes for a better experience. All team slaughtered because I got a lucky roll ? Where's the fun in that ? The Big Bad one shoted by a lucky roll ? Where's the fun in that ? It's...

Re: The Story or having fun?

And use a screen. Totally optional. If you're going to fudge or ignore dice rolls then you absolutely want to use a screen. But if you're not obeying the dice then why are you rolling them in the first place? Working an elaborate deception on you players? That's exactly that yes. Most of the time, ...
