Re: First session actual play notes and comments (reloaded)

Sounds like a great time! Do not go soft on the Extras - you will have encounters where the dice demand the PCs get pummeled by them! I too turned to Savage Worlds because of Ravenloft! For me, I had finished Eyes of the Lich Queen (D&D 3.5, Eberron - boy that would have been so much more awesom...

Re: The Problem of Group Stealth

In fairness, if you're crawling in darkness, you SHOULD succeed virtually all the time, even if you're not a trained ninja, so long as the guards are lax. OTOH, trained and actively alert guards turn that TN 4 into a TN 6-ish (d6 Notice + Alertness), which makes failure at least a possibility again...

Re: Stressing out the "less useful" Skills

Having one person be Sneaky McSneakface works fine for those situations where you want to get some key bit of info or bypass an obstacle (and in fact, it's arguably MORE reliable than having two Sneaky McSneakfaces, since that really just doubles the odds of one of them rolling like ass and either ...

Re: Savage Worlds Web Tools Update

Really nice!

I am using explorer (I know - work machine) - I am not getting anything when I hit the PDF button. But I made a simple 1/2-orc warrior and it turned out nice!

(Now I need you to put in all the Hellfrost material :P)

Re: New to SW, and thinking of running a new game, a few questions?

On longevity: At 100 sessions, you are talking 200-250xp characters at the end. We generally run our campaigns up to about 100xp and then sometimes come back to the characters (we rotate GMs). Anytime I build a new PC I routinely run my idea up to 300-400xp and I am still "wanting more" fr...

Re: FC vs Core

If you're curious which FC you have, look at the copyright page. If the copyright is "2009" then it's a first printing; if it's "2009, 2012" then it's a second printing. If you have original printed FC, there is a notable difference in the Adept Edge. The original FC and Hardbac...

Re: Con on the Cob 2016

I had the pleasure of playing in a bunch of games as well. I was able to exercise my bureaucracy and planning skills in amerigoV's Woes of Wudusmoca trilogy, which saw more party angst over the name of the town than the damn dragon mini that kept coming back. (All hail King Oh-Hey!!!) For those int...

Re: Anyone ever had luck with the chase rules?

I will admit, the few chases we've run, I think a combination of me screwing the rules up, combined with the oddness of the distance abstraction, and just crappy card pulls, have doomed most of our attempts. We'll see, I have an optional chase in a group this Saturday, and I have prepared everythin...

Re: Con on the Cob 2016

Children of the Corn - A Con on the Cob report I am about to wrap up my Con on the Cob 2016 trip. This year had a very nice Savage showing overall and we had our own room to run games. For me this lead to both a very cozy feeling. The room's location and the fact I was just playing/running SW lead ...

Re: Con on the Cob 2016

I am running 3 loosely linked games - seats available! The Woes of Wudusmoca (Hellfrost) - 3 parts. While the PCs are in the town of Wudusmoca, an itinerant cleric of the Norns is ritually murdered during Festival of Ragnar! All know that the town will be cursed unless it overcomes three trials: on...

However Kristian Serrano has created a rather extensive Savage Worlds Eberron Conversion Companion which might be of more direct use to you.[/quote]

Kristian also blogs about it as well (and he is on Google+ as well)

I finally cashed in my hardback print chit from the Kickstarter - loved the dead tree version. Great layout.

I used to work at the RenCen - cool to see some of the old sights!

Re: Fantasy Questions

TAG's Hellfrost is the Fantasy Companion put in action (not surprising given the overlap in authors. That said, we have run D&D campaign settings (Eberron, Ptolus, Greyhawk) using just the Core plus FC. The races, race generator, and some of the powers are now in the Deluxe, and someone made a g...

Re: [50 Fathons] Edge of the world

This is may be a stupid question, but what happens when a ship sails off the map edge? do they appear on the opposite edge of the map? They end up in Hellfrost (as a Hellfrostinian, I noticed all the races are in Hellfrost as well - ergo, they are linked) I'm not that familiar with the setting, but...

Re: So when does NPC get to be Wild Card?

She may or many not be a WC - but some of the resources she has may be (perhaps she recruited a professional killer along the way). Also, that last encounter may not be a fight. It feels like it should be an emotional conflict. Something like she captures someone important to the PCs - gives them a ...

If you are going to give extra armor, you have to account for added bulkiness.
